Greetings to all on Janmashtami

Heartiest greetings to all junctionites on Janmashtami, which is being celebrated today across the country.

Janmashtami, which celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna, the eighth Divine Incarnation of Hindus, falls on the eight day of Shravan Krishna i.e. the dark half. Legend has it, that Sri Krishna was born on a dark, stormy and windy night to end the rule and atrocities of his maternal uncle, Kansa. Janmashtami is one of the greatest of all Hindu festivals and pilgrims from all over India flock to Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna on this auspicious day.

The life and teachings of Lord Krishna, which have been beautifully narrated in Bhagavat Purana, gives out a universal message, which signifies the triumph of virtue and righteousness and inspires us all to work for the creation of a just and peaceful society.
